A Fireless Fourth

Some how during the craziness of the day, Elye got totally left out of all the pictures. So I dressed her up today in the same outfit to try to get a picture. Unfortunately, this was not a good day for Elye. Today proved that she is definitely allergic to dairy, which means no more dairy for me:(. I am not sure how long I will last! Her rash is back as well as lots of slimy poop. I think I changed 15 poopy diapers today. Of course, she's in a bad mood. Wouldn't you be fussy if you pooped 15 times today!
This is a little blurry, but I love this face. This comes right before a big cry.
The hat made her really mad.

Almost a smile

Reesi added the head band. She has her own sense of style.

Reesi told me she found a new friend, Landon. They played on the trampoline for quite a while.

Amy's feet flying in the air
That little brown head is Bryce. They went down together and he got wiped out!

As you can tell by Jude's face, it was pretty cold at this point in the day.

Jonathan tried to go down head first. This is him recovering. Apparently, its pretty hard on the spine.

Jason and the dangerous sparklers

Our grand finale!

Mimi, Papoo, and Elye Kate keeping away from the smoke.

Reesi likes fireworks better from a distance where it is nice and safe. Safety First!!
Our fourth began Friday night at Jenny and Eric's for a grill out. To our surprise and delight, their law-breaking neighbors set off fireworks in their backyard. Reesi was amazed and couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't wait for her to see the big fireworks the next night, which would not be in the cards for us; more on that later.
On the actual fourth, Larry had games to coach that night so his fourth was pretty much ruined. I decided not to let it ruin our fourth because we had a big day planned. We started with ribs and all the fixings at Granny and Papa Snoddy's with Karen and Van. It was delicious and I was stuffed. Unfortunately, the meal ended up costing us $70 since Larry lost his wallet as he was leaving. Possibly left on top of a car?
After a wonderful lunch, Reesi, Elye Kate, and I headed to White House to celebrate with some friends. Reesi swam, played, jumped, and water slided while Elye stayed in her wrap, of course. We enjoyed dinner there before the storms began.
The plan was to head over to Julie and Jason's to watch the fireworks with them and my parents. A tornadoic storm decided to hit right at the time that I was planning on leaving. The girls and I made a dash for it only to get a phone call from Julie saying they set the fireworks off early to escape the rain. Reesi started crying immediately and we made a u-turn and headed back to the Griffins hoping to see the White House fireworks. After watching the news for a while and realizing that the fireworks may never come due to the rain we left for Julie's again.
Luckily, Julie and Mom invested a while $12 in fireworks for Reesi to set off. Jason tried the sparklers first, but Reesi ran inside yelling, "Too dangerous!" She is my safety first girl! We then set off three amazing "ha" fireworks and called it a night. It was a pretty fun day, but we did miss Larry. Poor guy had to spend his fourth on the baseball field waiting for them to call the game due to rain! Maybe we will see real fireworks next year!

I got a pic of Elye sleeping on the fourth. I just posted it.

By the way, as I was bathing the boys, I heard the fireworks. White House came through about 10:00, so we hit the front yard towels and all and watched the show. Wish you could've stuck around.
