Roxanne. . .

The kids getting bounced by Larry and "Puh."

Yes, I believe Roxanne was the hit of the night. As the girls sit at the kitchen table talking, we hear Casey's 99% accuracy rendition of Roxanne and just wish we had some way of recording it. That was our Saturday night: trampoline, mosquitoes, Phillip's cooking, E.T., naked Jude, gender selection techniques, and Wii's Rockband. That pretty much sums up another night at the G's.

We thought Phillip was serious when the tongue came out, but we really knew he meant business when the sunglasses went on.

E.T.

This weekend we attempted to watch E.T. with Reesi. After hearing how much Lofton loved it and since I hadn't seen it in years I thought it was the perfect choice for our Saturday night movie. Reesi was not impressed. The first thirty minutes were spent with her head buried. The glowing heart, my favorite part of E.T., was what freaked her out the most. So we turned it off and sent her to bed. The next day in the daylight she tried it again and was much more calm. She watched it off and on while she played in the living room. Regardless, E.T. will be returned to Blockbuster and not checked out again for quite a while.

Back to School

School is back in session and life is busier than ever. Since I had to start back to work and Reesi's school doesn't start until after Labor Day, Reesi spent last week, Monday through Saturday, in Indiana at Mimi and Papoo's farm. You would think that she would have missed us, but I don't think she cared. I took this picture of her last night. She said that she was relaxing and thinking about being at Mimi's.

Last night our friends Kara and Daniel came over with their boy Isaiah. I feed the three girls first and the whole time during the "adult" dinner the girls were outside working on a surprise. They sweep the patio, pulled weeds, and scrubbed out the plastic pool. They were so proud of their work. They also loved Isaiah and it was decided that they all need a brother.

The Clean Team!

Reesi was proudly showing off the weeds she picked.

The question was, "Who wants a baby brother?"

All the hands went into the air.

Olympic Fur

Like everyone else in the nation we have been tuning in to the Olympic games. Reesi is even enjoying it. Tonight we watched the men's pummel horse and high bar. As a Japanese competitor proudly raised his arms into the air before he began, Reesi said, "I saw fur under his arm and it was really gross." I think I agree.

One Last Play Date

I reluctantly returned to work this Wednesday, but before I did we had one last play date before the summer was officially over for us. Since I was headed to the dentist in White House Reesi and I stopped by Lofton's to play. It had been a while since Reesi had gotten the chance to play with Lofton and she was excited. We spent many of the summer days at Lofton's house last summer and were glad to see that the slip and slide and riding toys were still there for our last play date of the summer.

Holiday World and Corn Shucking

Holiday World

Friday Reesi, Dad, Mom, Jenny, Eric, Grace, Lyla, and I visited Holiday World. This is the "friendliest, cleanest" amusement park located close to my parents in Indiana. Due to the sweltering heat we and everyone else at the park spent most of the afternoon in the water park. The wait for the water slides was 45 minutes so we only rode two of the big slides. The first one Reesi loved. It was one of those huge round boat-like rafts that sloshed up and down the curvy slide. Reesi just kept laughing and screaming, "I'm skateboarding." The next ride I thought was the same except in a tunnel. I was wrong. It was way faster, pitch dark, and Reesi and I were backwards the whole time. By the time we came out Reesi was clutching to me and screaming crying. She now refers to it as the evil ride.
Reesi and I then found a small slide we could go down making sure it wasn't one where she would go underwater. It was great until we got to the bottom and as timing would have it, one of those gigantic buckets just happened to fall on our heads, which resulted in more screaming.
Towards the end of the afternoon we went into the rest of the park for a few shows and some more rides. I talked everyone into riding Raging Rapids. This was another ride Reesi hated. Especially, when she got doused with water at the end "ruining" her clothes. While it seems like there was lots of crying I am just dwelling on the rides she didn't like. There were plenty that she loved and overall there weren't any major breakdowns or fits from any of the girls. We had a great time, but did decide that next year we're going to go in the beginning of the summer when it is not so hot or crowded. Hopefully, when we go back next year Reesi will have become a little bit braver.

A Mary Kay Makeover

Saturday Reesi tagged along to her first Mary Kay party and she had quite the time. As you can tell by the pictures she didn't listen to the advice on technique or less is more. However, even tonight as she was looking at her makeover pictures she was still positive that she was the prettiest girl there. Of course, I agree, but I think she looked more beautiful before the makeover rather than after.
