Reesi's Rules to Live By

These are Reesi's rules. The idea came to me when all the girls made up their own rules at the Sweet and Sassy party. I know it is only five, but for my own interest I plan on going back and editing as Reesi shows more of her rules every day. There is no telling how long this will be by the time I blurb the blog.

1) Those aren't weeds filling your backyard. They are flowers begging to be picked.
2) When you have a "bad story" in the middle of the night just stand at the top of the stairs at 1:00 in the morning and yell, "Mommy, I had a bad story," and Mommy will be right there to sleep with you.
3) Shoes that sparkle are the best accessory.
4) Always wear skirts or dresses.
5) Anytime you want to be really funny, just add the word pooter to the end of your sentence.
6) Little girls must wake up as soon as the sun goes up. I don't like this one very much on Saturdays!
7) Glitter makes everyone look better.
8) Magic wands belong in the bed with you at night. Never leave it on the floor.

Hard Working Mom

A perk to being an only child is the development of a overly healthy imagination. I just love going up to Reesi's room after she has been quietly playing up there for a while. I never know what I will see. Sometimes it's not so cute, like when she smeared Neutrogena hand creme all over her anywhere chair because she wanted to make it white. However, this past Sunday it was adorable to see how she was playing. She had laid all her children (she will inform you that she is their mom) laid out on blankets with pillows, eggs, and a piece of candy for everyone. It's hard taking care of so many children, but she is a great mother.

Easter Sunday

The Easter Bunny brought Carla a baby.

After church this morning we had Easter lunch at Karen's. Since it was in the 40s we decided to move the Easter egg hunt inside. Reesi loved hunting the eggs and especially loved all the gum and candy that came with it.

Vacation's Over

We spent our last day at the beach in Navarre with Parker and Austin. Since Larry didn't get the chance to play golf in Florida he decided to rent a jet ski on Friday to make up for it. Surprisingly, Reesi even went for a ride and, according to her, she went fast like "Lighten the Queen." When we asked Reesi what her favorite part of the vacation was she says it was staying with Parker and Austin. The only way we convinced her to actually come home was because the Easter Bunny was coming. And by the way, she asked me tonight why the Easter Bunny passed out eggs and I had no clue. Does anyone else know? I think I'm going to google it.

Soaking Up the Sun!

On Tuesday, Larry's dad and step-mom, Gary and Cat, took Reesi and I to the Gulfarium. Since Reesi is planning on being a veternarian when she grows up she loved it, of course. Her favorites were the sharks. Once she realized they couldn't get out of the water and eat her she wanted to watch them the whole time.

We enjoyed a beautiful day at the Santa Rosa beach today. Tons of CPA families are staying there and we were invited to spend to day at the beach with them. Reesi loved it because there was a girl there just her age to play with and Katy Collins, the assistant coach's fourth grade daughter, who helped her build a sand castle with a moat.
Our vacation is slowly coming to an end and I am dreading the basket of papers that needs to be graded when I return. I am determined, however, to do laundry everyday while I am here so at least I don't have that to worry about when we return. Tomorrow is our last full day and it is supposed to be beautiful. We have hit the beaches in Destin, Santa Rosa, and tomorrow we plan on soaking up the sun at the Navarre Beach.

Florida!

Reesi loved the beach so much she made me take her back down after dinner to play.

In front of our condo in Destin

Reesi was scared of the water the first day and would run away screaming.

We are enjoying the sun in Destin this week. Sunday was beautiful and Reesi fell in love with the beach all over again. Her favorite is definitely playing in the sand, but this year she even ventured into the water. Cautious as she is, she only put her feet in. However, this may also be due to the fact that the water was freezing.

Yesterday, the sun was out, but the wind was also. The strong winds made it freezing, but Reesi went into pool anyway. I felt like the horrible mom standing on the side of the pool while Reesi played alone, but I just couldn't make myself get in. I guess I'm getting old. Reesi braved the cold for a couple hours, but eventually she couldn't handle it anymore and we went in.

Larry's team is playing baseball down here this week. Last night we bundled up for --- versus ----. Larry's sister, Leslie, lives right outside of Pensacola and his dad is also down here this week so we had lots of company at the game. Reesi goes a little crazy around her cousins Parker and Austin and gets herself in trouble. Her response is, "I just want to be funny."
Larry has games tonight and tomorrow depending on the weather. They have been playing some really tough teams so we are hoping for a win today or tomorrow!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game . . . Again and Again and Again

The excitment in the our household has been building and baseball season has finally begun. There is no easing into the baseball season apparently, because their first week they started with four games. I have come to the conclusion that baseball plays more games in a season then any other sport out there. For Reesi and I this means lots of time outside enjoying the spring weather and lots of nights alone during all the away games. Larry is living and breathing baseball and loving it. Here is the schedule for the week and a link to the whole season. I would love any company at the game so call me!

The Party is Over!

Larry's Bison Gourd

The four year old birthday is officially over. Reesi had her last celebration this past Wednesday with Karen, Van, Granny Snoddy, and Papa Snoddy. Reesi was thrilled to receive two new tea sets and lots of clothes. She has already had a tea party with her cousins on Friday. I guess I should also add that this was Larry's celebration too. Now that he shares a birthday with Reesi he often gets forgotten. Happy Birthday, Larry!

The Big Snow!

I usually welcome snow, but I was not so excited about it this time. Not only was it wasted on a non-school night, but my sister and I had plans. I had convinced my sister to consign with me in a sale in Hendersonville. After much work had gone into preparing the clothes, we were looking forward to the pre-sale for consigners only on Friday night. With the weather forecast looming I had resigned to the fact that we would have to wait and shop with everyone else on Saturday, but my sister would not hear of it. So we jumped in her van and headed to Hendersonville at about 4:30 on Friday night. We entered the sale at 6:00 and did not emerge until 8:20. During our shopping excursion our phones continued to ring. Especially from our sister Julie, who is known to be a worrier. After Jenny informed her that we could take care of ourselves Julie realized that discounted Gymboree was worth more then our own lives. However, 2 hours after leaving the sale and after dodging several cars stuck or off the road, we safely pulled into Fieldstone Farms. Some of the deals that made it worth it: $4 Groovy Girls Pony, $5 scooter, and several adorable $8-10 dresses.

Healthy Girl!

Reesi visited the doctor for the first time since her 3 year well visit and she was not happy about it at all. Trying to make the visit fun she brought her baby Anabelle, Andy, and Baby Alive Pony, along with her doctor's kit. The visit went well and her stats are listed below. It looks like there will not be a booster seat in the near future!

Height: 38 inches (15th percentile)

Weight: 30 pounds (15th percentile)

Celebrate with the Family

Great Granny N
Great, great, Dabaw

Great Papa N and Poppy (Larry's Dad)

Cat (Larry's stepmother)

Reesi and Daddy

After Reesi's party at Sweet and Sassy we went to eat with Poppy and Cat and open some presents. Reesi got a new puppy and veternarian kit from Poppy. Poppy took the opportunity to teach Reesi how to take a dog's temperature and it not with the mouth. After all the festivities we didn't get home until almost 10:00. She was one tired birthday girl.

Reesi waiting for friends before the party

Hopping uncontrollably and wearing a Tinkerbell dress. That is the best way to describe Reesi at the beginning of her party at Sweet and Sassy. As each of her twelve friends arrived Reesi hugged, jumped and galloped in circles not knowing what to do at such an exciting moment.
All the girls were finally escorted to the dressing rooms and each found one or two or three perfect dresses. After the clothes came hair, nails, and make-up. I know they're only four, but they loved it. I never know four year olds could be so still. When each of them were getting their hair they didn't move a muscle.

After hair, nails, and make-up came a walk on the runway. There were many tumbles, but that's just part of the catwalk. The dressed-up girls loved watching themselves on the TV as they danced and jumped.
Once everyone was ready the girls played their own version of limbo and took princess lessons. The evening was capped off by the crowning of the princesses. The party couldn't have gone better and Reesi and all the girls had a blast.
