Crypto

My family and I thought the rules listed below were kind of humerous. That was until my dad showed me an article from the Wall Street Journal today. Not so funny anymore!

Some Important Rules

Reesi and I are going to Holiday World with my family on Friday. I was checking out their website when I came across these important rules. I think they have had some issues with children and swim diapers.

For the Health & Safety of all Guests:

  • Please don't swim when you have diarrhea (this is especially important for children in diapers).
  • Please don't swallow the pool and spray fountain water.
  • Please wash your hands after using the restroom or changing diapers.
  • Please take your children on bathroom breaks and check diapers often.
  • Please change diapers in restrooms only, never at poolside or restaurant tables.
  • Please clean your child thoroughly (especially the rear end) before swimming.

Really makes you want to swim in those public pools, doesn't it?

George, Sweat, and a Wedding with No Tie

Poppy and Reesi

This is George the dog.

This past Saturday we left the house with our day planned out perfectly. First, a visit with Poppy's dog, George, and lunch. Then directly to Larry's last summer league baseball game. Finally, home to get ready for a Saturday night wedding. It was a great idea, but plans change. Larry's game was moved from the afternoon to the evening. So here we were in Nashville with a baseball game at 5:30 and a wedding at 7:00. We made it work by killing time at Green Hills mall until the game. Then I dropped Larry off at the game and went home to get ready for the wedding. At 7:30 I brought Larry his wedding attire and we headed to the reception at Union Station.

The funny thing was that Larry refused to wear a tie. He was so sweaty from the baseball game that he couldn't imagine putting a tie around his neck. He even called his college roommate, Brandon, to see if he was wearing a tie. He was because he had already had this conversation with his wife, but it didn't sway Larry. Larry has no regard for wedding etiquette and shows up to the reception sweaty and tie-less. Oh well, we had a great time anyway. Reesi loved the dance floor and the wedding favors, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, while Larry and I enjoyed catching up with Lipscomb baseball Alumni.

Family Time and Family Pictures

Three girls can fit into this tube,

but not for long.

Mimi can fit too!
We're all three having a baby!
This one is ready for delivery.
Papoo and Lyla. Lyla follows Papoo everywhere. She accompanied him on all of his many trips to the hardware store because as she says, "He's her buddy."

Last week my parents came in town to visit, do some maintenance on my house, and get family pictures made. We spent the day at our house so my dad could trim hedges, cut down a weed/tree, fix a fan, and put new guts into our toilet. I don't know what we would do without my dad for our handyman because it is just not Larry's thing. While Dad worked the girls ate lunch at Henpeck Market and played all day long. Here are some pictures of our time with Mimi and Papoo.

We also had some family pictures made and we were so pleased with how they turned out. It has been awhile since our whole family has done this, but after seeing the result it was worth headache. When I say headache I mean three girls ages 5, 4, and 3. Reesi was pretty good, but still hasn't mastered that on command natural smile. It's a little forced!

Three Masterpieces

Today Jenny and I took the girls to Hobby Lobby to find something to paint. We left with with a wooden trashcan, a gazebo, and a gorilla. The girls did really well with their painting and concentrated on their pieces for an hour. We kept telling Reesi to look at the camera to smile, but she refused to take her eyes of her work. The results are quite impressive.

Purity Dairy and Jim Varney

This past week Jenny and I took the girls for a "tour" of Purity dairy. I always loved the field trips in elementary school when we toured factories so I was excited. However, when we arrived we were disappointed to find out that the tour we scheduled really isn't a tour. They stopped letting visitors into the plant after 9/11. This meant our tour consisted of watching them make ice cream sandwiches through the window, watching a video made in the 70's with Jim Varney, and ice cream. Even though it wasn't what we expected we did enjoy the ice cream!

After the "tour" we stopped by my sister Julie's work and brought her lunch. While there the girls giggled uncontrollably, climbed all over Julie, stole some of her bosses cornbread, and Reesi found a Glade plug-in scent that she has to have.

Future Women Golf Champions

The slumber party from the night before.

Girls and their clubs

Reesi chilling in the shade. It was a hot day.

Reesi and Ella playing pretend.

Ella teeing off. I'm no sure if Reesi ever made it to this point!

Since the recent purchase of Reesi golf clubs golfing has been high on Larry's list of things to do before school starts. Reesi and her daddy have actually gone golfing three times in the past week. The last golf trip was with Jonathan and Ella after an impromptu sleepover. They had some trouble finding a golf course that was open that day. Two hours and three golf courses later they finally teed off. I am not sure what goes on at the golf course, but from what I hear Ella and Reesi did more pretending than golfing. However, I have hope that one day all these golf trips will pay off. I'm thinking women's golf scholarship!

A Future in Stage Production

Their are moments when Reesi entertains herself very well. She made a mission for herself this weekend by creating a stage/shrine for the show her kids(stuffed animals) put on. After finishing the creation she would then lay out her fairy tale book and tell the story. It was pretty impressive, but now I just need to convince her that it is time to clean it up!

A Relaxing Weekend

Emily and I

This weekend I was graced with the presence of my high school best friend, Emily. We spent some time shopping, cooking, reading magazines, watching movies, and enjoying each others company again. We also went to Pie in the Sky, which I highly recommend. They give the kiddos a ball of dough to play with and I love any restaurant that provides any kind of entertainment for Reesi. She loved it and the bread sticks and pizza were great. It was a great low key weekend!

A Frog in Her Throat

Reesi has a little cough. This morning when she woke up this is what I heard between her and her child(stuffed animal), Carla.

Carla: Mommy, do you have a frog in your throat?

Reesi: "No, don't worry. People can't get frogs in their throat."

Reesi has obviously heard this phrase somewhere, but doesn't quite understand it yet.

A Week without Mama and Daddy

While Larry and I were on our cruise my parents took Reesi (and Grace and Lyla) for Friday through Monday and Larry's mom took her Monday through Thursday. Reesi is so blessed to have such a great set of grandparents on both side and she had a blast. I sent my camera with her for the weekend and my dad captured some of the smiles, laughter, and good time on his farm. The girls love going there. One of the pictures in the slide show is of Reesi's pee-pee face. When she is having fun she does not want to stop to pee. Her plan is to just sit still for a moment and hope it will pass, but I have figured her out. She always makes this face when she has to pee and I call her out by pointing and saying, "Pee-pee face!" She caught on also and now tries to make a different face each time she has to pee. I think Papoo got a picture of one of her pee-pee faces.
I don't have any pictures from her time at Meemaw's, but I know she had a great time. She went to the pool, to Monkey's Treehouse with cousin Sophie, visited Granny and Papa Snoddy, had Grace and Lyla over to play, and helped Meemaw ship out her pain cream orders.
Thanks to everyone for pitching in and making sure Reesi was well taken care of and entertained!

Cruising

Our dining buddy, Paula.

Larry, Kory (dining buddy), and waiter (forgot his name)

Larry and I had a nice little getaway on a cruise ship to Cozumel while Reesi hung with the grandparents at home. Here are a few things I learned while away.

10) The smaller the ship, the rougher the ride.

9) When it is just Larry and I the number of pictures decrease at an astronomical rate.

8) It can take me 2-3 weeks to lose 5 pounds, but only a 5 day cruise to put them back on.

7) All the shops in Mexico sell the exact same thing and it's not that cheap.

6) Antipasto is squid!

5) Always have ones for tips because everyone gets tipped now days.

4) Buffets are not our thing.

3) The best part of the trip might have been having Olga make our bed before and after our naps each day.

2) Six days away from Reesi is about three days too long.

1) It's good to get away, but it is better to finally be home!!
