Granny and Papa Snoddy

An afternoon with the Snoddys

She took her piano playing very seriously.

We spent our afternoon and early evening tonight with the Granny and Papa Snoddy. Granny is cleaning out her house for new carpet and we ended up with a couple new chairs and a TV for our loft upstairs. Reesi also got to take home her favorite toy, a three car garage with keys to lock each garage door. She loves her new toy!

A Cinderella Story

Tonight we were graced with the presence of a close friend, Marilyn. The highlight of the night was the cleaning of the floors. Reesi got it in her head that she wanted to spray everything in sight with Cucumber Method cleaning spray. I will admit she got that from me. I have an addiction to paper towels and spray. I know using paper towels is horrible for the environment, but I just can't stop. While Marilyn, Larry, and I enjoyed a cool night on the patio after dinner Reesi stayed inside and cleaned. When we came in it smelled of cucumbers and the floors were cleaner than they have been since we moved in! How long do you think it will take before she tires of this activity. Can I milk it for 14 more years?

We're Going to the Zoo! How About You?

Grace and Reesi having a serious pretend conversation with their new friends, Brenda and Fallie.
"No, he's not."
"Yes, he is."
This was probably the conversation they were having.
They always have to disagree on something.
Have you ever seen an ostrich poop? I can now say I have. It was the most disgusting thing I have seen in a while and I think it is a boy. That's as far as I will go with the description.

Trying and failing at a group shot.

Notice the alien weed, otherwise known as bamboo.
This is what is invading my landscaping in our backyard.
I have relented. The bamboo has won.
Maybe it will provide some much needed shade for our backyard or new bamboo floors for the upstairs.

The girls looking at the Zebra. Two guys standing behind them were cracking up because Reesi kept laughing and saying, "I can see their bottoms!" (referring to the animals, of course)

After being at the zoo for less then thirty minutes we had weathered a rain storm, two fits of anger, and lost our patience. Luckily, the first thirty minutes were the worst and when the sun came out attitudes improved. It turned out to be an enjoyable day at the zoo.

They're Baaa-aack!

First on the agenda . . . tea party.

Next . . . dress up, of course.
Reesi "I'm the mommy."
Grace: "I'm the big sister."
Lyla: "I'm the doggy."

Movie Night

I did not realize how much I depended on my sister and her girls for entertainment until they were gone for a week. Not only did I miss the adult interaction, but I missed Reesi being entertained. Five minutes into the day Reesi would already be shouting, "Mommy, play with me."

Mommy is great at going to the mall, the science museum, the library, the zoo, the pool, going on bike rides, etc. Mommy is not good at playing pretend. It is pretty bad. I sit there with Barbie in my hand not knowing what to say. It is more awkward than a first date with your girlfriend's ex-boyfriend; not that I ever did that. Anyway, it always gets pathetic enough that Reesi ends up feeding me lines that I just repeat.

Needless to say, Reesi and I were very excited when Grace and Lyla returned from their Florida vacation. They spent the day at our house and then Reesi went to their house for movie night while Larry and I went to the movie. Thank goodness our cousins are our neighbors!

Our American Idol

Reesi loves to sing, especially songs written by Reesi Nesbitt.

Happy Birthday, Captain Jude!

Reesi is so excited about Jude's Pirate Party

The Birthday Boy

The pinata was a big hit. Daddy would have been proud of Reesi's swing.

The treasure hunt:
Amy buried their treasure boxes in the sand. Everyone followed Ella to the X and started digging.

Reesi and Riley with their treasure.

Reesi showing off her pirate booty.

That is quite a sparkler.

Reesi and Jude watching Jonathan let off fireworks on the tennis courts.

Reesi and Jenna
The pictures pretty much sum up the whole party. Reesi had a blast!!
Happy Birthday, Captain Jude!

Computer Time With Daddy

After getting my blurb book finished this blog has turned into a scrapbook for me and I have gone a little post crazy, but I know if I don't post the pictures they will just sit on my computer for eternity.

Summer Pool Time

Mallory, Reesi, and Rose

Reagan and Jude

We had a great time at the pool with Becky, Amy, Cherie, Debbie, and their kids. Reesi and Rose floated around in their floats the whole time playing pretend with two naked Barbies and a My Little Pony. It was a nice relaxing day at the pool.

Reesi's Pet-sitting Business

Good Morning Rebel. . . Reesi loved Rebel sleeping with us.

As soon as she got home Friday night Reesi got Rebel's bed all ready. She thought Rebel might enjoy sleeping with this Groovy Girl.

All dressed up to walk the dog. Rebel only made it halfway around the block before I had to carry him. Poor Rebs.

Notice the poo-poo bag in her right hand. That's another reason I don't have a dog!

Reesi absolutely adores dogs and cats, but Larry and I still can't make ourselves get her one. I have a hard enough time keeping our dark wood floors that show every speck of lint clean as it is. I can't imagine how it would be with an animal that sheds. This week, however, Reesi got to be a pet owner.

Rebel is my sister's overweight Yorkie with kidney problems and a bad leg. He is a pretty good dog except when he cries and we don't know why. Reesi was so excited when we got to bring Rebel home Friday night. She exclaimed, "We get a take care of Rebel. Rebel is so excited to be here." She also told everyone we met that week about taking care of Grace and Lyla's dog, Rebel.

Tonight when we came home from a late night at a birthday party Rebel had been picked up by my sister. Reesi didn't notice and I have to admit I was relieved. I do love dogs, just other people's dogs. Yes, our family is a pet-sitting family not a pet-owning family.

Do I Say That?

This morning I was upstairs sitting at Reesi's table while she served me dinner. As she was struggling to push the bench up to the table she mutters under her breath, "I wish my husband would help."
Did she get that from me?

Friends Visit Franklin!

These were supposed to be chocolate chip cookies.
We are not sure how long they were in the oven.
Luckily, there were many other batches made.

Now that summer is here and Larry and I have more time we had our first visitors from White House finally arrive. The G's came down Saturday night for dinner and dessert. We all had a great time except I'm not sure about Jude. Reesi and Ella played like crazy, but I think Jude got a little left out. We didn't even have a Ken doll for him to play with. We had a great time, but only wish we could do it more often!

A Day at the Park

I had the day off Friday from "Reesi' while Julie and Mom took care of the girls. All went well other than the stick that jumped up and cut Grace's foot. Not a full day unless someone gets hurt!
