Busy Day

Sometimes our Saturdays are jammed packed. Today Reesi went to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese at 10:00, McDonalds with Mimi, Papoo, Grace, and Lyla at 12:00, Junie B. Jones at 2:00, and dinner at Grace's for her birthday at 4:30. We had a great time and Junie B. Jones at NCT was adorable. They are showing Go Dog Go in March and the Reluctant Dragon in April/May and Reesi is already asking to go back. I left my camera at Jenny's so I will have to add pictures later. Mimi was thoughtful enough to get a present for Lyla and Reesi so they would feel left out. Reesi was pleasantly surprised that she got a present. She just kept saying, "I can't believe it." Before we headed back over to our house the girls got baths, got in their jammies and had a picnic with the set that Mimi got for Reesi. She loves it.
Now that I spent a Saturday away from home I have my work cut out for me tomorrow. This is the list of the things I need to get done to prepare for the week ahead:
1) a week's worth of laundry
2) CLEAN HOUSE! At least the floors and toilets
3)lesson plans and grade papers
4)grocery shopping
5) visit Papa Snoddy at Baptist
6) return overdue movies to blockbuster - I can never remember these!
7) do this all w/o Larry due to baseball for most of the day
I have high hopes that it will all get done!

Anger Management

Tonight Reesi had her cousin's Grace and Lyla over. While she loves playing with them sometimes they have their disagreements. Reesi got extremely upset about not wanting to share her favorite doll. She ran into our office and began frantically drawing. The pictures speak for themselves. I think I'll save these for any future anger management sessions with a professional that we might need to schedule.

Beautiful Lipstick?!

Beauty Parlor

Mrs. JaNet at preschool has brought in things for the girls to play beauty shop and I think it has sparked some creativity in Reesi. I went upstairs the other night to find many of her stuff animals sitting in a line. In her room I find Reesi spraying her detangler on her animals, brushing their hair, and then lining them outside her room to dry. Her stuffed animals are extremely spoiled.

Reesi's Assessment

I met with Reesi teachers at her school on Wednesday to hear the results of the rigorous assessments that they did. Being a teacher, I am very interested in assessments so this was exciting. She is, as I imagined, well above where she should be. One area where she was more advanced than others that surprised me was social. Who knew? Most of the skills that she has mastered are around the 3.5-6 year stages. Well, except for one that is around the 2.5-3.5 year stage. Surprisingly, that skill is throwing and catching a ball. The teacher laughed when I told them that her dad is a baseball coach. I have informed Larry that he has some work to do. I will be in charge of the academics, but he's got to step up with the athletics. To Larry's credit though I think it is her, not him. I heard him upstairs tonight trying to get her to practice throwing a ball. He finally had to resort to bribing her with a quarter and that didn't even work. So much for the athletic scholarships.

Here are her current goals that her teacher has established:
Hops on one foot for 3 seconds
Tries again when a change or disappointment occurs (this is a real challenge)
Puts shoes on correct feet
Recognize numbers 4 & 5 (I know I should have already had this one done)
Count by rote t0 20 (we're getting close)
Put toys away before moving onto the next task
Identify more letters (it's time to get the sound cards out)
Write first name using uppercase R and the rest lowercase (she can do it, but needs some major work on form)

Snow ;) but no Snow Day:(

Reesi was so excited about the snow tonight and insisted on going outside to eat snow right after dinner. While she did love eating it, I think her favorite was throwing snow balls at Larry or I. I think she would have stayed out there until she got frostbite if we would have let her. Unfortunately, I think she, and I, will be disappointed when we wake up in the morning to nasty rain. I'm not holding my breath for a snow day:(

Style vs. Comfort?

Reesi always chooses style. She was dying to wear my big boots to church on Sunday, but was forced to settle on wearing them before bed that night. Reesi's constant choice of shoes at this moment it her silver sparkly shoes from Target. I know these cannot be comfortable because the sole is as thin cheap paper plate. However, every day the Stride Rite shoes specially made for her size 8 feet are abandoned in the closest for the $12 sparkly shoes. At least she knows a bargain.

Working for a living!

Reesi had her first official job tonight. Now that we are closer to Larry's mom, Karen, we are helping her out more with her pain creme business. So tonight we all we to the "factory" in her basement and helped her bottle msm pills and pain creme. Of course, Reesi had to help. She was in charge of stuffing the bottles with cottons and screwing on the lids. She even got paid for all her work. We are trying to teach her to save, give, and spend. She did decide that all the money she gets to spend is for wishes. They are going straight to the wishing well! I hope this isn't an indicator of her future spending habits.
