Exciting News!

It looks like we will have another one of these in about four months!
She is healthy and we are happy, especially Reesi who cannot wait to have a little sister!

Gourmet Cupcakes!

So Reesi begged for this cupcake maker. I tried my hardest to convince her that there were other things that were much better, especially considering that the refills are $5.99 for three cupcakes. I'd just rather go to Gigi's!

This is what the cupcakes are supposed to look like.

It doesn't look so bad at this point. The problem was that that is about all the icing that would come out. So Papoo takes over to show us how to do it. He starts cranking it as fast as he can and the next thing we know . . .

the cupcake is upside down on the counter and everything is covered in icing.
Reesi doesn't miss a beat. She picks the cupcake up, takes a bite, and says "Mmmmm!"
It was just perfect for her.
So in the end, this is what our cupcake looked like.

And it included quite a mess to clean up!

But how can you argue with this smile!

However, I am not guaranteeing that it won't end up on Craigslist by March! There are much easier ways to make her smile.

Christmas in Indiana

Reesi loved her "hair extensions." She has been wanting long hair for quite a while.

Reesi and her cupcake maker. "Finally," she said.

After opening presents Christmas morning we headed to Indiana immediately. When we got there Julie and Mom were in full Food Network mode. Tragically, at lunch time we realized the turkey wasn't done. Julie was quite stressed out, but we tried to save the morning by letting the girls open their presents and then we would eat. Unfortunately, Julie missed all the girls opening their presents due to the turkey travesty. She was quite upset, but I think the real reason was not the turkey, but the fear that my stuffing from Thanksgiving would be better than hers for Christmas.
In the end the turkey and stuffing turned out delicious. The girls and Papoo built their traditional present tower, and the girls loved all their presents. We finished up the night playing dominoes.

Christmas Morning!

Our child was nestled, all snug in her bed!
She went to sleep right away that night so Santa would come.

Reesi waiting for Daddy to wake up so she could open her presents!

Christmas morning turned out to be an early morning. Reesi woke up at about 5:00 when she "sweated her bed." I got her all settled in new jammies and sheets and we both tried to go back to sleep. At about 5:30 she was calling me up into her room.
Reesi said, "I can't sleep because my belly hurts and I want to open my presents."
So I laid town with her trying to get her back to sleep. She was very still and quiet. I thought she was actually asleep, but every time I would try to slip back down to my room she would let me know that she was still awake.
At about 6:15 I took her down to our bed as she shielded her eyes as we passed the Christmas tree. There she just sat up quietly. Finally, I just got up with her and we ate breakfast while we waited for Daddy to wake up at 7:00.
Reesi was so excited. She laid out her presents from smallest to largest. She said her teacher told her you were supposed to open your small presents first, your medium presents in the middle, and your biggest presents at the end. It sounded like a good plan to me.
She loved all her presents, but her favorite were her new vanity and make-up!

Christmas Eve

Reesi, Holly, and the Andys ready for bed.

Santa's Cookies

Putting out the reindeer food.

Tonight after dinner at Granny and Papa's we came straight home to get ready for Santa. After showing her new friend Holly around Reesi got into her pajamas right away and we went to leave food for the reindeer. She also came up with the idea that we better leave some water for them because after eating all the food they would be thirsty. We then set out cookies for Santa and went to read The Night Before Christmas. She was so excited m and screaming out into the night for Rudolf, but she also knew she better go straight to bed so Santa would bring her toys. I think she was asleep in ten minutes. We never heard a peep.

Later Karen and Van came over to help Mom and Dad get ready for Santa. It is so fun to watch the excitement in her. I am just curious to see what time she will wake up in the morning!

Christmas- Take Two

Reesi and Holly

Reesi when she found out Meemaw was giving her Wizard of Oz tickets at TPAC for Christmas.

This past Tuesday we spent the evening with Karen, Van, Granny and Papa Snoddy. Reesi was thrilled to once again get to open some presents. She got some adorable clothes, a pink personalized purse, and tickets to see Wizard of Oz at TPAC with Meemaw. Reesi also sang her favorite song from her Christmas program. It is one where the Daddy snores and she lets out a big snort. She was laughing so hard she clapped her hands together and said, "Mom, you gotta put this on the blog." Then we forced Reesi to put on a fashion show with all her new clothes, but it did not go well. She was quite the grouchy, reluctant model.

The next night, Christmas Eve, we went to the Christmas service at Granny's church. Reesi was great, but kept asking the whole time when she gets to light her candle. She could not wait. We had dinner again at Granny's and before we left Granny told Reesi she could take Holly home. Reesi was so excited. She talked to Holly the whole way home, took Holly on a tour of our house, and insisted that she sleep with her. Holly was a great addition to our Christmas Eve.

It's a Girl!

Well, at least that's what Drano says. Today, Jenny and I searched all over Franklin for Drano crystals. Jenny has a friend that uses this to predict the sex of the baby with great accuracy. Green = Girl

Reesi was very excited. She got out her pom-poms and ran around the house cheering, "It's a girl, it's a girl, it's a girl, girl, girl!"

Hopefully, in a week we will know for sure.

Gingerbread Friends

Today Grace and Lyla came over to decorate some Gingerbread houses. Grace had already done it in kindergarten so she made sure everyone knew she didn't need any advice. Lyla was the biggest sneaker of candy. Every time I looked over she was sneaking a big lick of icing. It is always interesting to see the results.

Christmas at Granny and Papa's

The blurry pictures are due to the fact that Larry dropped our camera!
I don't know what is wrong!

Today Reesi was thrilled because she got to open more presents! We went over to Granny and Papa N's and Dabau's for a little Christmas. Reesi could not wait. She got a jewelry box, which she has been wanting forever, a huge set of Polly Pockets with switchable body parts, and a microphone with a stand. We were all looking forward to hearing her sing some of her songs with her new microphone, but it was broken:( Reesi still had a great time with her other toys and I think the adults were more upset about the broken microphone than Reesi. We plan on taking it back to get a new one and bringing her back over to put on a show.

A Glass with a Stem!

Last night, Karen and Van were celebrating Van's birthday at Ruth's Chris and invited us to come along. Reesi was excited to get dressed up for a fancy dinner. Of course, the food was amazing. Reesi is quite the steak eater so this was right up her alley. She was most excited about getting to drink her water out of a glass with a stem. She acted like such a little lady the whole. We were so proud of her.

When we got back to Karen and Van's, she got to open a present. Meemaw knows how much she loves art and got her the perfect gift, a ceramic ornament decorating set. She got to paint one at Meemaws and the next morning the first thing out of her mouth was, "Can I decorate my ornaments." She worked on them from 7:00-8:00 and was so proud with the final results!
