New Blog

I am out of space for pictures on this account.  So instead of pay for more space I just started a new blog.  Find us at www.reesiandelye.blogspot.com

Cincinnati

Over fall break, Larry went to Cincinnati for school and I tagged along, without kids. The first day we had together Larry wanted to go to the William Howard Taft House.  It was the house that he grew up in.  We decided to walk since it was only 1.5 away and it was a pretty day.  As we were leaving the hotel shuttle driver warned us that it was at the top of a hill.  We went anyway thinking it would be good exercise.  It was definitely good exercise because that hill was steep and loooong.  After the Taft house we walked another 2 miles to a restaurant.  Then another mile to an Underground Railroad museum.  Then another 1.5 to a comedy club.  After the comedy club we were worn out and took a cab back.  It was a nice getaway from the kids!

No More Tangles

I somehow talked Elye into cutting her hair!  I love it and it is so easy.  Although, I do miss her little curls some days.

Reesi's First Concert

Reesi's friend Mary Taylor invited us to come along with them to Carrie Underwood's concert and we jumped at the chance.  It was Sunday night and it was late, but we loved it!

Happy Halloween!

After listening to Monster Mash in the car over 1,000 times, Halloween was finally here.  We celebrated with hot dog fingers, mummy pizzas, and witches brew for dinner.  Then we headed out to walk the streets.  Elye tired out halfway through and I headed home early with her.  The big girls kept going and came home with a ton of candy.  Happy Halloween!

Fall ball!

This year you were on a softball team with all girls from your school and grade.  You loved it.  Most of the other girls had never played before, but by the end of the season you turned into quite a team.  You got your first triple this year!  Your favorite positions were pitcher shortstop.

Warrior Dash-Top Ten!

The Top Ten Things I will Remember from the Warrior Dash

10)  Candace running around the first obstacle because she didn't want to wait in line and get muddy.  Really Candace?!

9)  The chunks of mud that was being pulled out of various parts of clothing.

8)  Carmen walking into 5 Points Pizza with no shoes, getting busted by a customer, and then shopping at the Family Dollar (with bars on the windows) for flip flops.

7)  That man in his tighty whiteys dancing all alone.

6)  Me falling in the tires and Candace about to pee herself from laughing.

5)  The mud bras

4)  Changing in the parking area and making our own dressing rooms.

3)  Slippery Mud-Candace and Amy could not stand up.

2)  Amy diving in and doing the breaststroke through the mud, while I high stepped and ducked under the barbed wire.

1)  Poor Carmen getting mud kicked in her face while Amy "swam."

Busy Weekend!

We had a busy weekend!  We started out with Reesi and Elye going to the school tailgate party with Larry, while I went to Jenny's baby shower.  I still can't believe Piper Wren is getting so close!  Saturday I spent my day running the Warrior Dash with Amy, Candace, and Carmen.  It was a ton of fun and we can't wait to do another one.  I am trying to talk them into the 10 mile Tough Mudder.  I know Candace is in!  We ended the weekend with a quick, quick trip to the zoo and a Carrie Underwood concert.  Mary Taylor, Reesi's sweet friend, had extra tickets. Reesi and I went to Chuy's with her and her mom and then to the concert.  It was Reesi's first concert and she definitely enjoyed it! My house is a mess, but we had a fun weekend!

We Climbed Nashville

Reesi had the big idea of going to Nashville Shores Labor Day weekend, but the weather did not cooperate.  So we planned a fun indoor day to make up for it.  It was a fun day with the Griffins and Ballards.  We hit three local dives for brunch, ice cream (Bobby's Dairy Dip), and and dinner.  They were all fantastic and better with friends.  We also went to Climb Nashville to rock climb.  Everybody loved it and it was a great workout for our legs and arms!  Larry also shared his bucket list with everyone.  This list includes all the random things within 200 miles that he wants to do.  It was is summer bucket list, but since it didn't get finished it lives on.  Currently, he is trying to talk everyone into going to Lebanon to see some animal with a human head.  We shall see if he can talk everyone into that one!

Bye Bye Baby Bed

Recently, we moved Elye into her big girl bed totally against her will.  I think she would have stayed in her baby bed until kindergarten, but my big sis has a baby on the way so it was time to pass on the baby bed.  Elye was excited when we went and bought her new Lalaloopsy bed tent.  However, once the lights went out she was crying for her baby bed.  We have had several late night and early morning mornings, but she is finally sleeping in her baby bed.  She is still not happy about it.  Over the past two weeks we have heard her say things like,
-let's sneak over to Jenny's and take the baby bed.  I decided that.
-I just can't do it.  It's too scary.  (with her hands over her eyes)
-No, I want my tiny bed.
-Jenny's baby can sleep here with me.
And those are only the ones I can remember.  She is adamant that she doesn't ever want to grow up.  I wonder how long she will still talk about her precious baby bed.

Williamson County Fair

The Williamson County Fair is always one of our favorite August events.  The favorite part is the little farmers area.  Reesi was such a good sister and helped Elye through all of it.  Elye loved it and the next week kept asking to go back and be a farmer.

First Days of School

Reesi's first day of third grade!  She was excited, of course.  However, she is still not adjusted to the going to bed early and getting up early.  She is also old enough where she doesn't want her picture made in the classroom on the first day.  I think she was a little embarrassed!

Elye's First Day!  Elye is also not into the getting up early.  She is still a little groggy and stretching in this picture!  Elye has loved preschool so far.  She only has 7 kids in her class and they are all girls!  It should be a fun year for her.

Thanks to Mimi for taking my babies to their first day of school.  This working mom had to spend their first day with her 23 kindergarten babies:(  It bothered me more than it did the girls.
