Our New House

We have pretty much unpacked everything and have begun hanging things on the wall. We are loving being in a house again. We drove up to our old apartment to get some things out that we left and Reesi looked out the window of the truck and started yelling, "No, not here! I don't want to live here!" She loves her new room and won't use the bathroom downstairs. She has to walk all the way up the stairs to use "her" bathroom. It is the perfect place for us and now I am glad that God forced us to follow his plan and not ours.

On the Fourth Day of Christmas

Family Photo Time
The day after Christmas we opened presents from my parents. One of Reesi's favorite toys was her baby that pees. Reesi has decided that this baby will be naked constantly because she is going to a swimming party. We all had a great time and ate a big meal again! This was officially our last day of Christmas.

On the Third Day of Christmas

Santa even brought Andy the cat a toy!

Our third day of Christmas, Christmas day, was spent in Indiana. We did the cookies, reindeer food, and The Night Before Christmas Story. The next morning Reesi woke up saying she heard Santa's bells. While Santa only sent a few presents Reesi took forever opening them, taking each piece of tape off and throwing it away. She got a Better-narian's Kit (Veterinarian) and a Leapster with some games.

After lunch with extended family we took her to see Alvin and the Chipmunks, which she loved. She was laughing so loud that I was just laughing at her.

On the Second Day of Christmas

Reesi praying in her new chair before our brunch.
Austin and Parker already making plans for the Xbox they just opened.

"I love you so much!"
Leslie thought it was funny how Parker always says that when he gets something he really loves.

Austin, Leslie, Sophia, Parker
Larry's mom, Karen, decided to have a Christmas Eve brunch this year. This meant that Leslie, Karen and I got to stay up until the wee hours of the night cooking, but the food was great.
Reesi was so excited about opening her huge box that she was quite a grouch while she was waiting very impatiently. She had it set in her mind that it was a motorcycle, but luckily she was just as happy when she found out it was a big chair. Sophia also got one from MeeMaw and Van, so the race was on. It was Team D verses Team ----. Team D had it in the bag and was finished until they realized they had the top and bottom switched around and had to start over. When they were finally put together they still looked pretty funky and I had to redo it days later.
Leslie's husband, Jeff is overseas. Since he is always Leslie's paparazzi and takes care of all family photographs I tried to take some of the boys and post for Jeff to see. Jeff-We missed you so much. I don't know how many times someone said, "We need Jeff here."

Later on the First Day of Christmas

Happy Birthday Van

After our Christmas with the ----- we had another celebration to go to. Larry's stepfather, Van, had a birthday. After Van and Karen went to the Rockettes all the family met them at Opryland at Cascades for a delicious meal. We made it through our fancy meal with only one broken glass and one shoe flung into the greenery. Luckily, Tom scaled the fence to retrieve it. It was a great night.

On the First Day of Christmas

We have been listening to Christmas music constantly in the car. Reesi is singing some of her favorites for everyone with Dabau in the background.

Our first Christmas began on Sunday this year. We had lunch with Poppy and then opened presents at the ----- house. Reesi got her beautiful white kitty, which is amazing and a little bit scary at the same time, a Barbie Island princess, a Barbie organizer (I love it more than her), and a new fancy stroller. She went right outside and strolled Andy around the yard. She said she took her to Disneyland, but it was closed. We had a great time at the -----.

Other Things We Didn't Seem to Notice

We are pretty much unpacked, but have yet to hang anything on the walls. As I was unpacking our coats I went searching for the coat closet only to discover that there isn't one. We also noticed that there are no linen closets, but I guess we will survive.

Wednesday, December 19

Life has been busy lately! Last Friday Reesi had her school program and was the loudest there! It was adorable. We also made a trip to see Santa that day. After about 10 minutes of coaxing by Santa she finally sat on his lap. The smile for the picture is hilarious because although she smiled she looks to be in very much pain.
We signed our papers today and are officially homeowners again. We were so excited we went to our new house right away. We realized we didn't get our garage door openers at closing so we went looking in the house for them. When we walked into the garage we realized it doesn't even have a garage door opener! How could we not have noticed that? Even more confusing, how could someone have lived in a house for ten years and never put in a garage door opener? That will be a top priority for us!
We, or should I say Larry, will be moving tomorrow and we just finished packing. We've been a little busy with the move so I have downloaded any pictures yet, but hopefully if the cable guy shows up on Friday I will be able to add those soon.
Look for more updates on the things about the house that we didn't notice. . . .

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Due to our big move days before Christmas, I don't think I will get around to the Christmas cards this year. I have kept the addresses on my computer throughout the years and just printed off labels, but now that computer is dead and I have no way of getting to my addresses. So I have decided to simplify our life and skip them. Simplification is what I need, or at least that is what the three fever blisters on my lip are telling me. Therefore, Merry Christmas from the ----!

Tis the Season!

Christmas shopping season has begun. When Larry called his dad on Thanksgiving and let him know what Reesi wanted for Christmas we didn't realize the task that we were putting on Poppy. Apparently, the Furreal kitty and kitten that Reesi fell in love with one day at Wal-Mart is a hot item this year. Poppy called all around Nashville and finally found a Wal-Mart in Smyrna that had two. Even though it was late into the night he left right away. By the time he arrived there was only one and there was a small foreign lady trying to reach it off the top shelf. Poppy stood around the corner carefully watching so that she would not see him. He knew, being the gentleman that he is, that if she were to ask for his help he must oblige. Therefore, patience was his choice of attack. She finally left, but came back shortly with a hula hoop. In her attempt to snag the season's hottest item, she only pushed it further back on the shelf. However, she was not defeated. She quickly scurried off to find the friendly Wal-Mart employee to retrieve the fluffy white cat. Poppy knew he must act quick. After planning and practicing his moves that he would use, he successfully got that cat off the top shelf. After avoiding the short lady on his way to the register and urgently paying for Reesi's beloved Christmas gift, the elder of the ---- -----Presbyterian Church pushed back the guilt and smiled as he began walking the victory path to his car. His smile faded as he put his hands into his pocket, realizing his keys were left somewhere inside Wal-Mart. Maybe it was a message from God, maybe not, but either way Reesi will have a wonderful Christmas! Thanks for being a dedicated Poppy!

Our New House, hopefully!

Now that our house is officially not ours anymore, Larry and I went house shopping. Last time we went house shopping we bought we looked at three houses and bought the third one we saw. This time we did a little better. Although, we only looked for two days we did see about 12 houses. We put on offer on a house in -----and as long as the inspection goes well tomorrow we will be moving in four days before Christmas. We are very excited. Reesi is especially excited because she will be right down the road from her cousin's Grace and Lyla. Only 19 more days in this wonderful place called the Lakes of B----!

Birthday Weekend!

We celebrated birthdays all weekend. Ella's Hello Kitty's party on Friday night, Memaw's fiftieth on Saturday, and Elizabeth's (friend from school) jump party on Sunday. At Ella's party on Friday she got a new Hello Kitty apron with her name on it and wore it all weekend. Leslie and the boys came in for Memaw's dinner on Saturday night. After a delicious dinner at Longhorn's Steakhouse we went home for an Apples to Apples game. We ended the weekend with a jump party on Sunday. While we had a great time, we are now officially wore out!

Thanksgiving

Mexican Fiesta Night

While Larry and I spent some time in White House cleaning out our house(we closed on Friday!) Marilyn offered to make dinner. Little did we know that the only reason she offered was because she wanted to use her new taco trays. It did turn out delicious and everyone enjoyed the Mexican Fiesta!

It's Official: Reesi's a Big Girl!

Today Reesi ran out of the bathroom, bare from the waist down, yelling, "Look Mommy! I did it." I look up and she has toilet paper neatly folded in her hand. I always fold it for her, but today she did it herself. As she goes back into the bathroom to finish her business she states excitedly, "I'm a big girl now!" Whether I like it or not she is officially a big girl.

Early Thanksgiving

This is out of order, but the weekend of the 9th we had early Thanksgiving with Larry's family. Jeff, the brother-in-law, is getting sent to Iraq right after Thanksgiving and this was his only chance to come to town before leaving. Therefore, we had Thanksgiving early with Jeff, Leslie, the boys and Larry's family. We had the traditional one with Karen, Van, and the Snoddy's and the nontraditional one at Las Palmas with Gary and Cat. Personally, I like the Mexican Thanksgiving meal(this has nothing to do with your cooking Karen). I forgot my camera at Las Palmas, but if Jeff emails them to me I'll post those too. Happy Thanksgiving!

Reesi the Farmer

We don't know what goes on in Reesi's room after she goes to bed, but this last time she left the evidence on her bed. We went to check on her before we went to bed and she had put every stuffed animal she had in bed with her. She has a toddler bed and there was hardly any room for her. She told me the next day that she was a farmer and just taking care of her animals. What a hard worker!

Gatlinburg!

We had a quick getaway this weekend to Gatlingburg. We stayed with Granny and Papa Snoddy at a resort in Gatlinburg. We spent most of Saturday at Dollywood. Larry and I had gone to Gatlinburg by ourselves several years ago and we were not impressed, but we have learned that it is much better with a child. The rides aren't impressive for us, but Reesi loved them. Her favorite were Dumbo and the old timey cars that she got to drive! We saw three Christmas shows, which were all pretty good. Karen met us that night for Babes in Toyland. We finished up the weekend at a wholesale show Karen was working. If you are looking for purses, jewelry, or bags this was the place to be. Somehow I walked out with only a jacket. Now that I look back I feel like I should have got some jewelry because it was such a bargain. The worst part of the weekend is that Reesi keep opening her DVD player on the trip and touching the inside where it says "Never Touch." After telling her to stop I turned around and the next thing I know it is broken. I was so mad. The best news of the weekend is that metro is off this whole week! It is so nice to come home from vacation and not have to work the next day. Oh, to be a stay at home mom!

Bye, Bye, Bye!

As I am writing this I am keeping my fingers crossed so that this blog doesn't jinx us. Figuratively, not literately, because that would be pretty hard to do. We got a contract on our house! It's not what we had hoped for in the beginning, but at this point we were hoping for anything. Even better is that they want to close on Nov. 30, which saves us a mortgage payment. Everything looks like it is going to work out, but I still won't believe it until it closes. We are emptying out all the leftover stuff into storage on Wednesday. We also need to move the swing set from he- - , but I am not sure when that is going to happen. Larry would probably just leave it if it was up to him, but I want it! This all hasn't worked out as we planned, but I guess God has better plans and the timing is pretty good since our lease on this apartment is up on January 6. House hunting finally begins!

October 31, 2007

We spent Halloween night with cousins Grace and Lyla. Reesi refused to wear her witch costume again and picked out this ballerina outfit from her dress up clothes. We started out trick or treating at Franklin City Hall where, by the way, they give out the good candy. Luckily, I managed to get one picture of the girls there because the picture session after trick or treating later that night did not turn out to well. Too much candy! Reesi loved it!

Reesi also had a Halloween party at school. Unfortunetly, I couldn't come. Sometimes working full time really isn't fun! Thankfully, my wonderful mom came down to Nashville for Halloween and went to the party with Reesi. Mrs. JaNet even emailed me pictures from the party. This is the only one without other students in it. Somehow Mrs. JaNet gets the best pictures of Reesi.

Ghouls at Grassmere!

The Good Witch! The Bad Witch!
Our computer has been in the shop for the past 2 weeks so I am a little behind on my blogging. I have that the longer I wait to write about something, the less I have to say. Anyway, our first Halloween celebration began at the Grassmere zoo with the Griffin's and the McConnell's. The kids had a blast running around like crazy!

Lofton and Reesi (Batman and the witch)

Reesi and I on the hayride with Captain Morgan. He was really Captain Hook, but due to the number of times he bit the dust that night we finally decided he was Captain Morgan and he had been drinking too much.

Larry gets magical kisses from the witch and Tinkerbell.

The Freezer!

So my phone would not work after the lemonade incident. My mom had heard that if your phone gets wet and won't work put the battery in the freezer. I did this and everyone's dismay when I reattached the battery and it worked! Unfortunetly, within 48 hours I lost my phone. I am without a phone again! Ahhhhhhh!

Circus Time!

While I am not a huge fan of the circus, I suffered through it because Reesi loves them and the tickets were free(thanks Carmen). Another perk we got to hang out with our friends from White House that we don't see enough of. When I told Reesi we were going with Lofton, Ella, and Jude she went crazy. Somehow the dads got to watch the game somewhere leaving us to be harassed by the clowns! This one clown was a little too friendly and I was feeling very uncomfortable!

At intermission Reesi, having the support of her friend Ella, rode the ponies. Since she was a little wobbly on the saddle, I got to walk around with her dodging the poop that was flying everywhere. She even got her picture made with the clowns. However, she did not enjoy it and I believe she only did it so that she could get the candy that I bribed her with. Although we left at intermission the fun-filled two hours was plenty for us.

lBusy Day!

We have had such a busy weekend! This weekend MeeMaw was selling her pain cream at the flea market in Bell Buckle. Since Leslie, Parker, and Austin were in town we all decided to go. Larry was generous enough to man the pain cream booth so the rest of us could shop. However, MeeMaw would say that he didn't man it to well because there were few sells made while we were gone. While there was tons of stuff there, we really didn't end up doing too much shopping. We did enjoy the hayride and all the unhealthy food!
