A Turning Point

As Reesi's fourth birthday is nearing I realize that our family is reaching a turning point. I have been holding onto Reesi's baby clothes like a rope in a tug of war battle. As I watch so many of my friends popping up pregnant and regretfully know that the timing is not right for our family to add another yet, I have conceded to being a first time consignor. It takes strength and faith to send away baby clothes even though I am ready to be pulling them out for the next child. While I am trying to be strong, I still have my weaknesses: smocked dresses, Gymboree, and rompers. Those are the many items that I have not entered into the consignment sale. I just can't part. Who knows, maybe Reesi will want vintage clothes for her children one day.

Happy Birthday!

The countdown to the birthday has begun. Reesi's birthday is next Tuesday, but the festivities will be spread out over several days to include all the family. Tonight Karen, Van, and cousin Sophia dropped by and Karen had a special birthday surprise. If any of you know Karen, then you wouldn't be surprised to learn that she was so excited about Reesi's present that she couldn't wait a week to give it to her so she got it tonight.
It is an adorable table, chairs, and bench for her room. It is beautifully carved and even has little rabbits carved on the chair and bench. While Karen was working a show this past weekend in Mississippi she saw it and couldn't resist.
Reesi was extremely excited and just sat and stared at it for a while. However, she soon put it to good use. There were just enough seats for Reesi and all the cousins to make dinner and have a quick tea party. I know that this table set will see many tea parties.

Don't Worry, They're A-Stinkt

As our family was enjoying a night at home Reesi was watching a Popular Mechanics DVD about kimodo dragons. As we watched it eat some bloody mess I asked, "What was that?"
"He ate blood," she eerily informed me.
This had me worried. I wondered out loud, "Reesi, what if there's one living in our backyard?"
Cooley and calmly she declared, "Don't worry. They're a-stinkt." I smiled as she continued to ramble off a list of animals that were a-stinkt. "Dinosaurs, monsters, ghost-es, and dragons with wings are a-stinkt."
When asked what a-stinkt means she replied, " It means they're all killed and you can only see their bones."
Thank goodness they are all a-stinkt because I was worried!

Valentines 2008

The past couple of years Larry and I have spent our Valentine's Day taking Reesi to Build-a-Bear. She has a small obsession with stuffed animals so this was the perfect night for her. She chose a pink leopard/cheetah animal and named it Carla. I have no idea where she has heard the name Carla, but it has been stuck in her head for the past couple weeks. Reesi got to choose a shirt or shoes for Carla. She apparently is already a shoe girl and chose some fashionable pink slippers. If you haven't been to Build-a-Bear lately it is crazy the things they have for the animals. They have everything from Ipods to purses to underwear. The people in front of us went all out and spent over $50 on their animal! Fortunetly, Reesi was excited about her pair of shoes and never said a word when we told her she could not have both. It was a great Valentine's night!

Frogs, and Crabs, and Snails, Oh, My!

My fourth grade class is doing a unit on Animals and we are observing crabs, frogs, and snails. I ordered these animals from a company and had them shipped to my school. I was planning on them arriving on Friday, but to my surprise they came today. While I was at my training session I got a call from my school that I had live animals there and needed to come get them before they died. I had planned on making their habitats with my class on Friday, but now they needed a home today. I thought it would be fun for Reesi and I to do . We recruited Grace for help and it turned out to be way more than I bargained for. Two hours later I had a table full 0f frogs and crabs. The girls did have a great time and Reesi is already attached to these creatures. The only question: How will I transport these to my school on Friday? Hmmm, still trying to figure that one out!

A Snow Day for Everyone!

A Before and After Shot of Playing in the Snow!

Except my school system! Luckily, I had a afternoon training session and I had planned on taking the morning off. I don't know what I would have done otherwise since Reesi preschool was two hours late. Reesi got a little time in the little snow and got to preschool just in time for Kindermusic.

Archenemy!

This swing set continues to be a thorn in our side. The putting together of the swing set in 2006 threatened our marriage. Larry was adiment that we sell it when we move, but I was dead set against it. So here we are with a fort in our garage and the remaining pieces in our backyard. Of course, swing set was not going to make it easy for us. It is about 1 inch to wide and will not fit through the gate of our fence. So now the question remains, how long will this for sit in our garage until we can find a solution? My guess-at least 5 months! Anybody else want in on the bet?

It's Pink!

I made Larry, against his will, help me paint Reesi's room. The last time we tried to paint a room it did not turn out so well, but I was confident that we could do this. It really wasn't as bad as I expected. We worked for a little over two hours Friday night and an hour and a half Saturday morning and that was it. Reesi was in Indiana this weekend with Mimi and Papoo so she was so pleased when she came home to her pink room. We still need bedding, blinds, curtain rods, curtains, shelves for toys and wall decorations. Slowly, but surely we will get there. All Reesi cares about is that is will be a ballet room or as she says bal-la-lay.

The Doctor is In!

Papa Snoddy has been in the hospital for rehab after his back surgery and Reesi knew just what he needed to feel better. She took her doctors kit, lab coat, and gloves to the hospital to check him out. She says she's going to be a doctor one day. However, at the Adventure Science Museum she runs and screams when I try to show her the model organs, but we'll still keep the dream alive!

Fast Asleep

The best way to go to sleep is singing loudly for all to hear. At least that is what Reesi has been doing lately to go to sleep. This, of course, has resulted in her going to sleep at a later hour. Tonight, she once again began to sing. After getting on to her several times she decides to sleep somewhere else, her anywhere chair. I adimantly refuse to let her do this, but, as she many times does, she convinced me to let her try it. To my delight she was asleep within 15 minutes. I think I will move her before I go to bed, but I couldn't resist taking this sweet picture. However, thirty minutes after snapping this picture I hear tornado sirens. I have never lived close enough to a city to hear tornado sirens so it kinda freaked me out. Under the steps she went and she never made a sound. I thought it was funny as I was watching the weather. They are warning, "Go into an inner closet in your house right away, but if you do see a funnel cloud email us if you can." Luckily, we didn't see a funnel cloud.

Fat Cat!

I was telling Amy about Karen's fat cat. It is sooooo fat. The pictures really don't do it justice.

Homecoming

We had a great day with our friends in ------ yesterday. Reesi got to play at Marilyn's house with Jenna while I got to go to the movie with Amy and shopping with Marilyn. After a gourmet dinner at the ------- it was time to go to the homecoming game. Due to some bad timing we actually missed the homecoming part of the game, but still got to see tons of friends that we miss dearly. Reesi loved it and didn't want to leave. Larry had just about talked me into spending the night with the ------- so that we could have more fun with our friends, but then he remembered he had to feed the goats. Seriously guys, there really are goats to feed. It is so great to see everyone, but it does remind me how much we do miss our friends in White House.

Reesi's Funny

As I laughed at something funny Reesi said she declared, "Mom, you were right, I was wrong. I am funny."
She is pretty funny.
