Birthday with Friends

Since we are going to Disney in a couple weeks we are keeping Reesi's birthday low key this year. So tonight we had our friends from White House out for dinner, cake, and a tea party. Reesi set her table upstairs with tea cups, tea pot, sugar cubes, milk, sandwiches, muffins, and fruit. The kids went straight upstairs and within 5 minutes Ella had put on a dress-up dress and was ready to eat. I have decided this is the way to do dinner for the kids every time. They ate absolutely everything and they served themselves. Reesi had a blast and it was great to spend time with our friends who we haven't seen forever!!

A Family Picture

Reesi with her long hair, gloves, heels, and pineapple drink.

Mommy with a star on her dress(the first star she has ever drawn; she was soooo excited) and a beautiful yellow necklace.

Andy and Alley, with her pink boots on, and they are both wearing a necklace.

Daddy with his facial hair, big muscles, and a pineapple drink.

Today we went to lunch at Amerigo's, but Reesi didn't eat a thing. At Amerigo's they give the children big pieces of butcher paper to write on. Reesi worked the whole time and wouldn't even stop to eat. This is her master piece of Reesi, Mommy, Daddy, Andy, and Alley. We are in California. Reesi is a princess. Mommy is a Queen and Daddy is a King. Andy and Alley are a real cat and a real horse.

A Mother's Guilt

Should I feel guilty that Reesi wants a pet so bad that she is ecstatic when I let her get some pet worms? In my kindergarten class we are doing a living things science kit. I have just about killed all the earthworms that came with the kit so Reesi and I went to get some meal worms to raise with my class.
Of course, Reesi was thrilled to go to Petsmart and when she learned that she could get a real live pet she could not stop talking about it. After buying the meal worms at Petsmart we went next door to Publix to get oatmeal and plastic containers to raise them in. She talked about her worms the whole way through the store and even named them: Karlen, Gloria, Rosala, Sally, and Allen.
She was only supposed to get five of the 35 meal worms in the tub, but she talked me into keeping them all, which means I am going back to Petsmart to buy more for my class tomorrow. The worms are all girls and they love to eat their carrots and play. She is going to keep them in her stuffed animals' room where it is usually dark. Reesi is planning on being the best owner ever.
Her excitement almost made me want to buy her a real pet, but I can't quite find one that I think I can handle. She is such an animal lover that I know that one day I am going to have to give in, but maybe the worms will hold her over for a while.

Valentine's Day Party

Reesi was so excited about her Valentine's Day party. She worked very hard on her Valentine's writing "I love you" on each one and signing her name. She decorated each card with stickers and heart shapes. She made a very special one for Sydney and made sure she put the "best friend" sticker on that one.
At the party she had fun decorating her heart donut, playing Bingo, passing out Valentines, and opening them all up once we got home. We all had a great day!

Meet Alley

Reesi is so excited to be going to Build-a-Bear!

Alley and her "two" new boots.
Every Valentine's Larry and I take Reesi to Build-a-Bear to make a new stuffed animal. When I told Reesi we were going she was so excited. She decided that she was going to make a stuffed animal for Larry because she hasn't been as nice to him as she should be. She was pretty excited about how happy it would make him.
However, once we got there and she started looking at all the animals she just couldn't resist getting one for herself instead. She picked out a horse and her favorite part was brushing its hair. Larry was against buying any clothes, but I did talk him into some shoes. The tricky part was that this horse has four feet. That means buying extra shoes. We couldn't talk Larry into that, but Reesi was happy with just two shoes. Once we got in the car she called Meemaw right away to tell her about the horse, Alley. She just happened to mention (the first sentence out of her mouth) that she needed two more boots for Alley and would Meemaw buy her two more boots. She knows Meemaw is a push over.
Of course, Alley went to bed with Reesi and Andy. The whole night Reesi kept talking about how Alley felt and Alley hurt her foot and Alley is so excited to have a new owner and making crying sounds (Alley was crying about her foot). I just couldn't help but wonder how long this tradition will last. When will she go get a new stuffed animal, but the pretending stops and it just turns into a stuffed animal? I don't want to think about that yet!! She's just too sweet right now.

A Taste of Spring

We have been enjoying the beautiful 70 degree weather lately. Sunday afternoon we planned on riding our bikes to the park with Grace and Lyla. We were about three houses down from Jenny's when the crash happened. Well, it wasn't really a crash, but a fall. Reesi fell of her bike when she was trying to climb on.
It wasn't that bad, but with Reesi, it was baaaaaadd! Jenny ran home to get band-aids while Reesi screamed on the ground. Grace tried to come over and distract her with a story, but Grace kept getting distracted by the blood and covering eyes while yelling "YUCK!" We got her bandage and she stopped crying, but she was way to injured to get back on the bike.
I carried her to my bike trailer and hauled her to the park. At the park I then had to carry her to the bench. She sat the whole time and didn't move her leg from the original injured position.
Finally, when we decided to walk to the creek she decided she was miraculously healed and able to walk. Reesi does not have a high tolerance to pain. I just can't figure out how to toughen this girl up?

Our New Cat, Blaze

Reesi has been begging for a cat and I am still refusing. However, we have found the perfect cat for us. His name is Blaze and he is our neighbor's cat.

Whenever we are outside Blaze jumps over the fence for a visit. Reesi gets her cat and we don't have to take care of it or worry about cat hair in the house.
We love Blaze!

On the Move, Finally

Reesi got a new bike for her third birthday, but our neighborhood was not really bike friendly so she never really rode it. Then we moved to a very bike friendly neighborhood, but somehow the bike got lost in the move. So for Christmas Reesi got a new bike, but she was not excited and wanted nothing to do with it. She was content to simply ride her little tricycle. She would ride her big bike when she turned five.

Last weekend Reesi and I took the tricycle out for a ride around the neighborhood. She was having some trouble with the plastic wheels spinning and I told her if she rode her big bike she wouldn't have that problem. When we got back from the ride she decided to try out her big bike (with a little force from me).

It has training wheels so, of course, she could ride it immediately. She kept yelling, "I'm doing it. I'm doing it." We rode right away to Grace and Lyla's to show them. Reesi made me knock on the door while she stayed on her bike so they could get the full effect when they came out. Since both of them are riding big bikes without training wheels they really weren't that impressed.

Reesi kept saying, "I'm riding a two-wheeler" and they would quickly correct her and tell her that it is not a two wheeler because it has training wheels. It didn't phase her. She was so excited.

She woke up the next morning at 6:30 wanting to ride her bike. I made her wait until after church and then we met Grace and Lyla at the culd-a-sac by my house for a afternoon of fun. It was a beautiful day (60 degrees!) and Jenny and I enjoyed relaxing on the park bench while the girls played.
Now it is back below freezing so she has been riding her bike around our living room. She can't wait to get back outside.

Two years to work up the courage to ride the big bike with training wheels. At this rate, she might even take of the training wheels by the time she turns 12!!

A Quick Trim

She cut off quite a chunk this time!!

Reesi has been known to cut her own hair, but I thought that she had grown out of that. I guess I was wrong. I am not sure what she was thinking because all she talks about is letting her hair grow out. After the cut she told me it was because she didn't want "vangs" and was trying to cut them off. She doesn't quite understand that you can't just cut your bangs off! And she didn't even have bangs to start with!!
